Most thrones aren’t exactly inviting. They come with guards, velvet ropes, and someone in power whose very presence makes you second-guess if you belong there. It’s easy to imagine God’s throne that way too, distant, spotless, and waiting for us to clean up before we come close.
But the throne of God isn’t surrounded by bodyguards. It’s surrounded by grace. The invitation isn’t “Approach if worthy,” it’s “Come as you are.”
Still, many of us hesitate. We pause at the doorway, replaying our mistakes like an old voicemail, certain that God’s tired of hearing our voice. Shame keeps us quiet. Guilt makes us feel disqualified. But the writer of Hebrews says, “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
God’s throne is not where you go to be scolded. It’s where you go to be restored. He already knows what you’ve done. He’s not checking credentials; He’s offering compassion.
So take a step forward and find that even in all its power, His throne feels like home. Bring your mess, your silence, your not-so-spiritual moments. The door’s wide open, and your Father’s already inside, eyes lighting up the moment He sees you. There’s no hesitation, no frown of disapproval, just the kind of love that rushes to surround you.
