Ever feel something fall apart in your hands? A plan, a friendship, a strained marriage, a dream that’s drifting away. It’s jarring how quickly things fall out of control.
Paul writes to a church that was surrounded by pressure and uncertainty in Colossians 1:17, “He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”
It’s a simple but stunning claim without exaggeration. It’s reality. Jesus isn’t a patch for our problems; He’s the Person who holds the universe in balance. The same hands that shaped galaxies also hold your life, your fear, your family, your tomorrow.
We often act like God needs our help keeping things together. And it shows in our stressing, fixing, and over-planning. But Christ’s supremacy means there is no moment, molecule, or mistake beyond His reach. Even when life feels unsteady, He hasn’t lost His grip.
Breathe that in. Slow down. Let your shoulders drop. Rest your spirit. Remember who He is. If He can hold the cosmos, He can hold you.
Read: Colossians 1:13-20
13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. 17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. 18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. 19 For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, 20 and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.
Reflect: Is there a part of your life you’ve been managing instead of surrendering?
