James doesn’t pull punches: the tongue is small, but it’s powerful. It can bless or burn, heal or harm. With it, we praise God—and sometimes tear down people made in His image.
Your words don’t just reveal how you feel. They reveal what’s filling your heart. Jesus said, “The mouth speaks from what fills the heart.” If gossip, anger, or bitterness come out, they didn’t come from nowhere. They came from within.
But there’s good news: just as fire can destroy, it can also purify. At Pentecost, God touched tongues with fire to bring life, not death. He still does. The Holy Spirit can reshape your speech to build others up, proclaim hope, and confess truth.
Your words matter. Let God’s grace fill your heart so that your mouth overflows with life.
