The Hidden Work of Heaven

As the aroma of fresh bread fills a home, something unseen is already at work. Have you ever noticed how you can’t see yeast working, only what it changes?

Once it’s mixed in, it quietly transforms everything it touches. You can’t pull it back out or stop the rise. That’s what Jesus said the kingdom of God is like. Once it’s inside you, it doesn’t stay contained.

Paul wrote to the Colossians that we’ve been rescued from darkness and transferred into the kingdom of God’s Son. But that transfer isn’t only about a new destination; it’s about an inner transformation. God’s Spirit begins to work, softening a harsh word before it’s spoken, nudging you to forgive when it feels impossible, stirring peace in a tense moment. Until grace begins to rise in places that used to be flat and lifeless.

Over time, His peace replaces panic. Gratitude replaces grumbling. Surrender replaces striving. The kingdom works its way through.

You don’t have to make yourself rise. Let His Spirit keep pressing in until even the hidden corners of your heart rise with His warmth, until your whole life carries the fragrance of His kingdom.

Colossians 1:9-14

9 For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.

13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Matthew 13:33

He spoke another parable to them, “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three pecks of flour until it was all leavened.”

Reflect: Where do you sense God quietly working change in you right now, and are you letting Him finish what He’s started?
